Photo Journal: Santee to Me

by Nicholas Webb

Santee is the place where I live. I eat, drink, sleep and indulge in this place. It’s not the biggest house on the block, but for the purposes it serves it works spectacularly. My mother and sister live here and enjoy life with me. I have a good life here.

It may not seem like anything from a glance but this is where I enjoyed the first many year of my life. Exploring these wooded areas. Being scared of rattlesnakes and exploring these parts made up a large part of my childhood and it felt to important not to incorporate.

This Ford escape doesn’t look like much but when I was christened with it in 2017. It was my greatest joy. It brought a whole new amount of variety into my life. So much exploration so many new people so much new life and flavor to my sometimes dismal life.

This is the YMCA in Santee. This place is my escape when life weights on me.  A place where I don’t have to think only indulge. A place of rebirth for me when days are rough. It’s been there and is unchanging. I hope it doesn’t change.

This picture is here to represent my love of music and how it affects my life. This picture was taken at probably the best night of my life. A concert where a band was performing entitled Royal Blood. The energy and the passion, everything about that night was perfect to me and reconfirmed my will to live.

Technical theatre has been a massive part of my life and I want to spend the rest of my life doing and it brings me joy and intrigues me. I am involved in theatre at West Hills, but also outside of school at local theatres like at Off Broadway Live and La mesa Lamplighters. I hope I can pursue it as a career one day.
